Planet Likely to Earth Found!
Thursday, September 17, 2009Finally, our Astronomers have already found a place outside the solar systme where we could have a firm place to stand – the only problem is that it is broiling hot.
As our scientists search for life outside our planet, they have found more than 300 planets outside the solar system. The only problem is that they can’t be proven to be solid up to this time or what the scientists call gas balls. Our scientists have long figured that a planet needs a solid surface to rest on if life begins on it and finding one outside our own is indeed a big deal.
“We basically live on a rock ourselves,” said one of the discoverers of the said planet, Artie Hatzes, Hatzes is the director of the Thuringer observatory in Germany. “It’s as close to something like the Earth that we have found so far. It is just a little too close to its sun.” explained Hatzes.
Too close that the temperature of its surface is exceeding 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit, way too toasty to sustain life. The planet circles its star in just a matter of 20 hours, compared to Mercury, the planet nearest our sun which completees its solar orbit in 88 days.
